Roebuck Contracting: Experienced 3D Laser Scanning

Roebuck Contracting specializes in 3D laser scanning and BIM.

Headquartered in North Georgia, Roebuck Contracting offers a 3D laser scanning service that provides value throughout the planning, design and execution phase of any project. We provide solutions to document the as-built environment for facilities management, architect, engineer, and construction professionals. We work hands-on with each independent client to develop an accurate understanding of the existing conditions and create custom deliverables, ranging from raw data to 2D drawings and 3D models.

Roebuck Contracting delivers exceptional service with fast response time, technical expertise and long-term client commitment. Our company specializes in 3D laser scanning, 3D existing conditions modeling, scan-to-BIM and reality capture solutions. Our 3D laser scanning services have saved clients money in lost productivity and materials with models to aid in clash detection, design, prefabrication, space definition, and visualization.

Why Roebuck Contracting?

Field Expertise:

With over 20 years of experience working in facility management and MEP design, our knowledge of industry assets, business models and departmental focuses give us an advantage in the field of BIM for commercial real estate as well as other industrial and engineering markets. We've worked closely with contractors during all phases of construction and with owners after the projects were completed for complete life cycle BIM.

Industry Specific Models:

There is no need to settle for primitive objects such as cubes and cylinders to represent your assets. Our diverse library of BIM objects and ability to model specialty items allow for easy recognition in your virtual world. Every member of your team should be able to identify and differentiate their surroundings inside your model. Let RCI build your virtual world.

Diverse Deliverables:

We leverage the capabilities of an array of software to fit the customer's needs. We can hand over coordinated AEC models in native formats for your BIM managers to host in your established environment, merged models for access through free viewers, fully rendered photo realistic images and fully rendered video fly throughs with animations, sound and more.

3D Laser Scanning:

Roebuck Contracting owns and operates Faro laser scanning equipment to precisely capture millions of points of data. Our scanner captures nearly half a million points per second with millimeter accuracy. We provide the scans to our clients in several different formats. Every scan project is delivered to the client on a thumb drive or portable hard drive in several folders. These folders will contain organized scans in .fls, .e57, .dxf or others. We also can provide our customers with Revit or AutoCAD projects with the point clouds inserted and with multiple levels already defined.

Building Information Modeling (BIM):

Roebuck Contracting uses an array of software to create accurate intelligent models of buildings, equipment and assets. We can provide cohesive models or individual parts for your BIM team to host themselves. The customer defines what level of detail they desire in model creation. We deliver these models in a variety of formats including native authoring software formats such as Autodesk Revit or Inventor as well as Navisworks and 3D pdfs.

Graphics and Animations:

Roebuck Contracting models with such accuracy that renders of buildings and equipment are often used in building automation graphics, way finding maps, and presentation literature. We have provided clients with animations in the use of promotional videos and real estate marketing. See our gallery for examples.

Clash Detection: When Roebuck Contracting is brought into the early planning stages of a project, our BIM team can run clash detection to find where collisions will occur before they are realized in the field. This coordination of discipline saves money and hours of re-work.

Floor, Wall and Slab Level and Flatness:

Roebuck Contracting uses laser scanning to generate a heat map showing deviations in the flatness of a scanned surface. A perfectly flat virtual plane is used to compare against a scanned surface to produce a legend showing the flatness tolerance.

Non-Contact Measurement: Roebuck Contracting uses laser scanning to provide customers with measures to unreachable objects like power lines, piping, ceilings etc..

RSF- Square Footage Verification: Roebuck Contracting uses laser scanning to accurately capture building envelopes, interior walls, floors and ceilings to develop models that allow for precise rentable square footage calculations. We deliver these findings in the form of 2D drawings with room schedules that include area calculations. We work with property managers in understanding how to use software such as Bluebeam with pdfs generated from the models to calculate their own RSF.

As-Built Documentation:

As it relates to laser scanning, as-built documentation consists of 2D drawings extracted from the models generated from the laser scan data. This data can be separated into various trade disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical etc.. and complied into sheet sets as would typically be handed over upon project completion. The level of detail is dictated by the customer to include or exclude the information needed for each project.

The time savings of field measurement versus laser scanning is not quantifiable. Dimensions gained from one site visit consisting of several scans dwarf the data of weeks of traditional measurement gathering.
